The Kyneton Declaration captures RAR’s key priorities as agreed at last year’s national conference held in Kyneton (11-13 October 2024).

The Declaration is framed by Australia’s obligations as a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention and the 1967 Protocol, which outline basic minimum standards for the treatment of refugees and people seeking asylum.

It affirms our belief that goodwill, hope and human rights begin close to home.

It renews the call for a Charter of Human Rights which would implement international human rights provisions through national legislation, as set out in both RAR’s 2018 Wodonga Declaration and the RAR 2022 Katoomba Declaration.
