Getting Here

You can get to Kyneton, in the Macedon Ranges in Victoria, by car, train, or bus:

Car: From Melbourne travel north-west via the Calder Freeway (M79), which is also the route southwards from Bendigo. Other nearby towns and cities are also accessible by car.

Distance and Driving Time
Location Distance in Kilometres Approximate Driving Time
Melbourne City 87 kms 65 mins
Tullamarine Airport 79 kms 53 mins
Bendigo 66 kms 51 mins
Ballarat 77 kms 66 mins

Train: Kyneton is on the Bendigo line V/Line service. From Melbourne's Southern Cross Station or Bendigo, you can reach Kyneton and the nearby towns of Gisborne, Woodend and Castlemaine. From Kyneton station it’s a short journey into central Kyneton where the Conference (Sacred Heart College) and Friday evening (Town Hall) venues are located.

*Note: Some train departures may be replaced with a coach service.

Passengers may bring bicycles aboard V/Line trains at no cost, subject to availability of space. V/Line conductors will assess whether there is sufficient room for bicycles to be transported safely on each service. Bicycles must not block passages or doorways and should not cause inconvenience to fellow passengers.

It is recommended that passengers traveling with bicycles choose off-peak times and avoid weekday trains arriving in Melbourne between 7 am and 9:30 am or departing Melbourne between 4 pm and 7 pm.

Bus: While there are limited bus services directly to Kyneton, regional bus routes may offer connections to nearby towns and cities, providing an alternative for travellers without access to a car or train.

From interstate:

By air you can first arrive at Tullamarine (Melbourne) Airport, which, being in Melbourne’s north-west, is in the direction of the Macedon Ranges, including Kyneton. A private bus service also stops in Kyneton on the way to Bendigo (https://bendigoairportservice.com.au/timetables/).
